Hetty Samosir, Co-Founder of PensioTec, shares:
"I feel very fortunate and deeply grateful to have graduated with a Master of Finance (a quantitative program) from the University of Cambridge, a lifelong dream come true. Since childhood, I aspired to learn in a place known for bold, innovative leaders. Walking the same halls as Newton, Crick & Watson, Turing, Dirac, and Lee Kuan Yew (the founding father of Singapore) has been truly humbling.
Cambridge is a powerhouse of innovation, recently ranked #2 globally for the number of unicorns per funded startup, just after the Bay Area and ahead of Zurich. Completing this rigorous program as a self-funded student, while also supporting my younger brothers in their university studies back home in Indonesia, has been both rewarding.
In 2024, I also survived a serious accident while practicing polo with world professional polo player and winner of Gstaad Polo Hublot 2025 & 2023, Francisco Fucci and our polo coach, Manu, at Zurich Polo Park, Switzerland. The surgery and recovery process experience reminded me of the fragility of life, but also deepened my resilience and determination to keep moving forward. While going through countless physiotherapy sessions and recovery, I found incredible time to develop the idea for PensioTec. Along the way, we attended sessions and lectures with world-class founders such as Jensen Huang (NVIDIA), Cliff Obrecht (Canva), Severin Hacker (Duolingo), others.
As an expression of gratitude, I want to give back by supporting the next generation. The PensioTec – Hetty Samosir Scholarship is our way of giving back and empowering young talents in Indonesia.
The conversations we share, the lessons we exchange, and the community we build together give me hope and optimism for the future."
